Humans allied with Radiants. What a strange world.
— KAY/O (Match Start with an ally Radiant)

Alpha Earth (also known as Earth-1) is a planet that is the primary location of VALORANT.

History[]

First Light[]

In a near-future Earth, the planet and its way of life was forever changed after an event known as First Light occurred. It spanned the entire globe, leading to big transformations in life, technology, and how governments operated. Not long after this, the company Kingdom Corporation discovered a new substance that would be called radianite, which turned out to have very powerful properties. It would go on to become a cornerstone of Earth's civilization with the significant advancements in technology it brought.[1][2]

Some people then also began to find themselves gaining supernatural abilities. Attributed as another effect of First Light and related to radianite, these select individuals became labelled under a different classification from humans known as Radiants.[1]

More mysterious events[]

In the first decade since First Light occurred, the population of Alpha has observed more mysterious events to have occurred, especially during the end of the decade. Several "rifts" opening up in the skies, the sudden disappearance of an entire laboratory work force, and most notably, a massive detonation in Venice leading to the unbelievable sight of the affected area rising out of the ground and remaining permanently suspended hundreds of meters in the sky, the latter being the most destructive radianite-related event known to Alpha and causing concern over a substance that had only been known to be a safe, clean source of energy. Whilst none of them have been able to be fully explained, the people of Alpha are still searching for answers as to who or what is to blame for these recent events, with speculation pointing towards some of the most powerful and dangerous radiants known to Alpha and the possible involvement of Kingdom Corporation in these events. However, any radiants of interest have still not been tracked down, and Kingdom continues to deny any responsibility for these events.

Omega Earth

Not much is known about Omega Earth, though those that have learnt about its existence are either members of the VALORANT Protocol or Kingdom Corporation, the latter of which partnered with their Omega counterpart Kingdom Industries to create a research lab in Santa Fe, USA, Alpha Earth. To the rest of Alpha's population, it appears that the existence of Omega is being kept a secret. The difference between Alpha and Omega is the result of a point of inflection that would set the two Earths on divergent paths. However, this inflection point only occurred relatively recently so there is still much similarity between the two Earths and their populations, where an individual and their Alpha/Omega counterpart don't have radical differences in personality or character.[3]

Whilst several Omega inhabitants have made their way onto Alpha as Kingdom Ind. employees working at the American lab, the Omega VALORANT Protocol has been known to send agents to Alpha in attempts to steal their radianite for themselves. Their motivations for doing this are unclear, though its possible Alpha VALORANT members with the highest clearance levels may know why.

Devastation caused by the Human-Radiant war in the alternate timeline

In an alternate timeline, centuries after the Rise of Venice, Humans and Radiants were at war with each other. These battles resulted in the ruination and annihilation of Earth, with Paris being mentioned as one such city to fall. The counterparts of present-day radiant VALORANT agents were instead weapons for the Radiant forces, including Astra, Reyna, Sage, and Skye, with Reyna appearing to have played a pivotal role in this war. To deal with her and the rest of the radiants, the humans created and programmed the robot KAY/O to kill them, and he was eventually able to kill Reyna. Whether this brought about the end of the war or not is not known, but at this point humanity had suffered severe losses. Brimstone and Sova are known to have been part of the Human forces.

Sometime after having dealt with Reyna, KAY/O decided to travel from his time to the present day using a specialized teleporter.
