Blaze is an ability in Valorant.

Summary

Blaze is a Basic Ability for Phoenix.

Equip a flame wall. Fire to create a line of flames that moves forward creating a wall that blocks vision and damages players passing through it. Hold Fire to bend the wall in the direction of your crosshair.
— In-game description

Usage

Phoenix can purchase one charge of Blaze in the shop for 200 credits at the start of each round.

When first cast, Phoenix prepares the ability. When fired, a straight line starts traveling in the direction of the crosshairs. If the firing key is held down, the line will bend in the direction Phoenix is looking in as it travels. The line stops traveling when it collides with terrain or reaches its maximum distance. The line creates segments of a flame wall on the nearest terrain directly below it.

Blaze blocks vision and deals 30 damage per second to enemies and allies inside of it. Phoenix instead regenerates 6.25 health per second while standing inside of the wall.

The wall lasts for 8 seconds, dealing a maximum of 240 damage or regenerating up to 50 health (same healing as Hot Hands).

Notes

  • The length of the wall is proportional to the angle it was fired at. The maximum wall length can be achieved by firing Blaze while looking straight forward. The minimum wall length can be achieved by firing it directly upwards or downwards, or into a wall.

Update History

v1.0 Patch
  • Blaze duration increased 6>>>8 seconds
    • We felt like the short wall duration, combined with the long cast time and short range, was forcing Phoenix to play a little too predictably around his wall. We’re bumping this up slightly to give him some more time to work with.
  • Blaze damage: 15 every 0.25s >>> 1 every 0.033 seconds
  • Blaze healing: 3 every 0.25s >>> 1 every 0.16 seconds
    • These Damage over Time/Healing over Time models are updated to match the recent changes to our other DoT abilities. Additionally, we’ve matched the damage/healing values to be half as effective as Hot Hands, primarily so that the total healing output of these two abilities is at parity (50 health each). We’re also doing this so that Blaze doesn’t become the de-facto “healing” ability compared to Hot Hands.
