Fakeout is a basic ability for Yoru.
Description[]
“ | EQUIP an echo that transforms into a mirror image of Yoru when activated. FIRE to instantly activate the mirror image and send it forward. ALT FIRE to place an inactive echo. USE to transform an inactive echo into a mirror image and send it forward. Mirror images explode in a Blinding Flash when destroyed by enemies.
— In-game description
|
Fakeout is a Decoy ability that Yoru must equip before casting. On cast, he will deploy an echo that instantly activates and transforms into a mirror image that will run forward as a grounded object, creating audible footsteps as it moves. When activated, the image runs in a straight line, expiring after a set amount of time. If it collides with vertical terrain, it will try to continue running forward if it hits at an angle but at more perpendicular angles the image will stop in place until it expires, making no sound.
Yoru can use Alt Fire to place a stationary and inactive but visible echo that remains in place indefinitely. Yoru can activate a placed echo at any time to make it transform into a mirror image and run forward.
If an enemy shoots the image at any point, it will turn towards them, exploding after a short delay to flash any agent within a conical area directed towards where the image is looking. Enemies can deal damage to the image through other means and destroy it without the image triggering its flash effect.

Previous versions[]

Fakeout's original icon
Yoru's original Fakeout ability functioned similarly to its current version, deploying footsteps instead. This version was used from Yoru's release until it was reworked in Patch 4.04.
Description[]
“ | EQUIP an echo that mimics footsteps when activated. FIRE to activate and send the echo forward. ALT FIRE to place an echo in place. USE the inactive echo to send it forward.
— Former in-game description
|
Fakeout of this version was an ability that Yoru must equip before casting. On cast, he deploys an echo that walks directly forward, mimicking an agent's footsteps. The echo walks in a straight line, expiring after either a set amount of time or once it collides with vertical terrain. Yoru can use Primary and Alt Fire to control how the ability is set up. Using Primary Fire instantly deploys and activates the echo, while using Alt Fire places a stationary, inactive, and invisible echo that remains in place indefinitely. Yoru can activate a placed echo at any time to make it reveal itself and walk forward.
The echo is invisible to enemies beyond a large radius.
