Mary Adeyemi grew up in Peckham, London with her older brother Jamie. She was with him on the rooftops of London when First Light happened. Later on, she moved to Lagos, the capital of Nigeria.

As a singer, Adeyemi returned to Peckham for a gig at Bussup House.

Working on her debut single about the events of one night from her past involving her brother, Adeyemi tried to reconnect with Jamie after not having heard from him in a long time. After many missed calls, he eventually responded with an attempted call of his own, leaving a voicemail instead.^[1]^[2]
