REALM is a Pan-Asian organization in the world of VALORANT from Alpha Earth.[1]

History[]

REALM was established to be a multinational task force that recovers historical artifacts and antiques from black market trade and returns the items back to their country of origin. They hire antiques experts and freelancers. Whilst the force as a whole is regarded as altruistic and noble, some employees took advantage of their position and the task force's line of work, operating within a secret faction with their own agenda.[2]

Turn The Tides Betrayal

Greaves reveals his true intentions

During one mission in Mumbai involving operatives Varun Batra and Captain Greaves, the squad looked to secure a relic as normal, quickly eliminating any enemies in their way. Splitting up, Batra discovered the room containing the artifact first. Upon entering the room by himself, the place began to activate, revealing a pedestal in the shape of a hand, bearing five rings and a bracelet. These became drawn to Batra, detaching from its pedestal and attaching to his hands instead. Greaves then arrived, revealing his intentions as a member of the secret REALM faction to take the artifact for them by holding his colleague at gunpoint and demanding that he hand the artifact over. Batra stood his ground in defiance and Greaves opened fire, but the bracelet activated to summon a wall of water between the two men that blocked the bullets from passing through. When the wall dissipated, Batra had fled and Greaves was left in an empty room.[3]

Turn The Tides Cascade

Batra pushes REALM operatives back as they pursue him in Thimphu

Not wanting Batra to ever get the opportunity to report to the rest of REALM what Greaves was really up to, the captain immediately framed Batra for intentionally stealing the relic and claimed Batra had tried to kill him in the process. Using this fabricated story and his rank in the force, Greaves was able to convince REALM command that Batra needed to be stopped with lethal force. The force declared Batra a fugitive and sent out armed convoys to eliminate him, pursuing him across southern Asia. With the powers of the bracelet now attached to him though, Batra was more than capable of keeping himself safe from however many men REALM sent to eliminate him, and his continued escapes led to REALM making the news as the media speculated about how Batra was able to keep on doing this.[4]

Interest in Batra was also being shown by former employee Hazal Eyletmez and the covert organization she now worked for. As a professional courtesy, Greaves let her know that Batra was now a fugitive but then stressed the investigation was an internal matter and that she should not inquire further, as the task force shut Eyletmez and her employer out of their business. Later on in the pursuit, Greaves and his team discovered a communicator discarded by Batra that had been used to contact an unknown entity. Remembering his previous contact with Eyletmez and her mysterious employer, Greaves came to suspect they had ignored his message to stay of of REALM's affairs, and contacted her to send a "final warning".[4]

With Batra still not dealt with and the possibility of another entity now helping out to expose the corruption within REALM, Greaves continued to increase the amount of resources available to his team. During a motorbike chase through Delhi, however, the covert organization arrived to rescue Batra and save him from REALM's hands. Batra used a mix of REALM tech and his bracelet to take down the REALM bikers, with Greaves himself being one of them, before ditching his own bike and leaping to safety aboard a VLT/R aircraft sent to pick him up. Greaves could only watch helplessly as it departed, the fugitive and the artifact now completely out of his reach.[3][4]

Any attempt to discover the identity of Batra's rescuer was further prevented when they purged relevant accounts to preserve their anonymity. For Greaves however, this meant they were not willing to go as far as revealing themselves in order to expose his faction and their corruption, allowing him to continue his rogue activities within REALM.[4]
