Ranks are symbolic representations of which Match Making Rank (MMR) bracket players are located in. Players earn MMR points through playing Ranked games ONLY. Depending on several metrics recorded during ranked matches a player can have an MMR points change of slightly/regular/greatly increase/decrease.
Factors Affecting MMR Point Gain/Loss
The greatest factors affecting MMR points awarded or subtracted are a player's Average Combat Score (ACS), the difference in rounds won and lost and the difference between a player's rank and the ranks of the other players in the lobby. A higher ACS skews the system to award more MMR points. The smaller the difference in rounds won or lost, the smaller the possible MMR points awarded or subtracted will be. If a player's rank is greater than that of the opponent players', a loss will incurr a greater MMR point subtraction and upon a victory, fewer MMR points awarded. If a player's rank is less than that of the opponent players', a loss will incurr a lesser MMR point subtraction and upon a victory, more MMR points are awarded.
