Yes, I'm pumped!

— Character selection

Raze (codenamed Clay) is an Agent in VALORANT.

Profile

Biography

Raze explodes out of Brazil with her big personality and big guns. With her blunt-force-trauma playstyle, she excels at flushing entrenched enemies and clearing tight spaces with a generous dose of “boom.”

Raze's playstyle is very aggressive compared to many of the other agents in VALORANT, as most of her abilities are focused on mobility and damage instead of intel gathering or support. She is one of the few agents where most of her abilities are primarily meant to deal damage, namely Paint Shells and Showstopper, and has commonly been criticized by the community for said abilities.

I promise I'll get 'em. Might take down a city block along the way but...hey. A win's a win

Trivia

Development

  • An unused voice line by Sage might imply that Raze's call sign was originally going to be Bombshell.
  • Raze was the first additional character to be added in the Closed Beta.
  • Cypher called Raze "Izzy" in one of his quotes, possibly implying that this was her real name. However this voiceline has been removed from the game so it is no longer confirmed to be canon.

Lore

  • Raze is from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
  • Raze created her Boom Bot by stealing and modifying one of Killjoy's Alarmbots[1].
  • She loves to breakdance and was part of a B-Girl crew in Salvador [2]

Relations

  • Raze's quotes hint that she worked with Breach before joining the VALORANT Protocol
    • It's possible the two worked together as mercenaries
      • Breach icon.png
"Raze! Huh, together again and we're not even breaking the law!"
    • It's possible the pair were recruited into the VP together as they are VP agents 12 and 13, and VP's agents numbers are assigned in the order that they joined the organization
      • If this is the case, this means Viper was involved in Raze becoming a VP agent, as Viper was the one to recruit Breach
  • Raze and Killjoy have a friendly rivalry[1]
    • Whilst not "canon per se", VALORANT Twitter released content on April Fools Day 2021 that suggested the two were romantically involved[3][4].
