Seasons (formerly Episodes) are the biggest competitive time frames in VALORANT. A Season lasts the entirety of the year, containing six Acts.
VALORANT initially launched with a seasonal format of Episodes, lasting for half of a year with three Acts. They were superseded by Seasons in 2025, starting with V25. Seasons keep the twice-yearly Competitive rank resets from Episodes, resetting at the beginning of the season and again midway through. Players must play 5 placement games at the start of a new season before they are given a rank for it.
